Week 9 Day 59
Fear stalks its prey in every area of life: through sickness or death, through insecurity, family or financial problems and unemployment. Each of these can generate its own fear, robbing you of peace of mind.
Message Bible: Isaiah 41:10 "Don't panic. I'm with you. There's no need to fear for I'm your God. I'll give you strength. I'll help you. I'll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you."

Week 9 Day 60
Once you are caught in the web of fear it can have devastating physical, intellectual and spiritual consequences. How do you escape? Simply remember who loves you. The Lord, your God. Love conquers fear.
Message Bible: Romans 8:38-39 " I'm absolutely convinced that nothing - nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, 39 high or low, thinkable or unthinkable - absolutely nothing can get between us and God's love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us."

There is only one sure fire way to overcome fear. Unconditional and total trust in God's omnipotent power through Jesus Christ is the only protection against the evils of fear.
Message Bible Psalm 56:3-4 "When I get really afraid I come to you in trust. 4 I'm proud to praise God; fearless now, I trust in God. What can mere mortals do?"

Week 9 Day 63
How to overcome fear? Hold on to Christ in love and faith. Pray without ceasing. Develop a deep and consistent awareness of His presence. Then you will be truly fearless.
Message Bible: Mark 4:37-40 "A huge storm came up. Waves poured into the boat, threatening to sink it. 38 And Jesus was in the stern, head on a pillow, sleeping! They roused him, saying, "Teacher, is it nothing to you that we're going down?" 39 Awake now, he told the wind to pipe down and said to the sea, "Quiet! Settle down!" The wind ran out of breath; the sea became smooth as glass. 40 Jesus reprimanded the disciples: "Why are you such cowards? Don't you have any faith at all?""

Week 9 Day 64
Love is the best antidote for fear. As the Apostle John says, "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear."
Message Bible: 1 John 4:18-19 "There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life - fear of death, fear of judgment - is one not yet fully formed in love. 19 We, though, are going to love - love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first."

Week 10 Day 65
"Curiouser and curiouser," said Alice. And who knows? We might be in wonderland for all the weirdness this season has brought. For example: Upset of the week goes to the formerly winless Braves who got past the Powerful Padres who took their fourth loss of the season, equaling his number of loses from the past two seasons combined. Weird. The Mighty Mets finally took a "L" to go with last week's sister kiss when the streaking Athletics (6 straight W's) squeaked past them on the strength of 4Tb, less than .1 in Whip and ties in RBIs and WQS. Weird. Climbing into a tie for 1st is the Really Royals, winners of 4-in-a-row. That's not weird, but this is. The AL East Division is being led by my 4 wins and 5 losses Bosox. Weird. That will probably be short lived as I run up against a very unhappy Mighty Mets squad. That's Ok, it's been a while since I was on top of anything in this league. Through 9 weeks the Gigantic Giants are the only team still without a "L." Ya can kiss'em, ya just can't beat him. Also squeaking was the Yankees over the Rays by a single SV, a single WQS and tied SB. Oh, the Humanity! Stat winners for week nine: Home Runs: Royals again (14) Runs: - Royals again (37) RBI: - Royals again (42) Steals - Braves (9) AVG - Dodgers (.293) Ks- Giants (85) ERA - Cubs (1.92) WHIP - Athletics (1.028) SVh - Athletics/Astros (10) W+QS - Athletics/Mets (10) Key matchups for week: Cubs/Padres: Can the Powerful Padres find themselves? And then the long awaited AL East leaders vs the NL East leaders. Red Sox/Mets. Who am I kidding. I had two of my starters and a RP go on the IL over the weekend. My team will just have to "screw their courage to the sticking place" and hope for the best. Courage is this week's theme.
Message Bible: Philippians 4:13 "Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am."

Week 10 Day 66
Courage takes many forms. In hospital wards and sick rooms there are courageous fighters battling against all odds. When all hope seems gone, courage comes to the fore.
Message Bible: Deuteronomy 31:6 ""Be strong. Take courage. Don't be intimidated. Don't give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He's right there with you. He won't let you down; He won't leave you."

Maintain your dignity and self-respect even in the face of seemingly insurmountable problems. Courage comes to the fore when everything seems lost and all hope seems gone.

Week 10 Day 70
Where does this kind of courage come from? It is the determination to conquer that calls forth a special kind of perseverance in the moment of testing.
Message Bible: Hebrews 10:35-39 "So don't throw it all away now. You were sure of yourselves then. It's still a sure thing! 36 But you need to stick it out, staying with God's plan so you'll be there for the promised completion. 37 It won't be long now, He's on the way; He'll show up most any minute. 38 But anyone who is right with me thrives on loyal trust; if he cuts and runs, I won't be very happy. 39 But we're not quitters who lose out. Oh, no! We'll stay with it and survive, trusting all the way."

Week 10 Day 71
Real courage has its origin deep in a person's heart and is often fueled by love and trust. When your spirit is in harmony with the Holy Spirit your life is filled with a holy strength that enables you to face life with courage and confidence.

Week 11 Day 72
The top four teams continue to win last week with the Mighty Mets Mauling my Bosox 13-1 with a bounce back victory (but it was really a squeaker with eight cats within 1-2 points) found themselves sharing first place with the Really Royals, winner of 5 straight, and the Gigantic Giants who have yet to have the bad taste of an "L" this year. In 4th place the Awesome Athletics winners of seven-in-a-row only a 1/2 game back. The other notable victor was the Braves climbing out of the cellar with their 2nd win in a row. Stat winners for week ten: Home Runs: Diamondbacks (13) Runs: - Jays/Athletics (38) RBI: - Blue Jays (37) Steals - Athletics (11) AVG Orioles (.319) Ks- Mets (77) ERA - Cubs again (2.92) WHIP - Orioles (1.037) SVh - Cubs/Royals (8) W+QS - Mets again (12) Key matchups for week: Mariners/White Sox Braves/Giants. Can the Braves make it three in a row and finally hand those Gigantic Giants their first "L" To accomplish that the Braves will really have to work at it. Work being the focus for our week.
Message Bible: Ecclesiastes 9:10 "Whatever turns up, grab it and do it. And heartily! This is your last and only chance at it, For there's neither work to do nor thoughts to think In the company of the dead, where you're most certainly headed."

Some people find that their daily work becomes dull and monotonous. They lose their joy and inspiration and become negative and cynical. Is this you?

Week 11 Day 74
There are many reasons that can lead to a bad attitude towards your job. Two of the leading causes are insufficient rest and relaxation and carrying a burden of responsibility beyond your ability. Often those two come together.
Message Bible: Colossians 3:17 "Let every detail in your lives - words, actions, whatever - be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way."
