I will be continuing to put up His Holy Word each day for this season. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him all managers here below. Praise Him above the Heavenly Host. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. May He bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you and give your team a path to the playoffs. Amen.

Week 1 Day 1
It's like waiting for Christmas! But it's finally here: the 2024 MLB season and a quick check of the standings reveals a staggering 20 team tie for first place! We are all hopeful that this will be our best season ever! And yes, I didn't beat around the bush with this week's theme. HOPE!
Message Bible: Psalm 71:5 "You keep me going when times are tough - my bedrock, God, since my childhood."

Week 1 Day 2
The first day is in the books and hopefully we checked the scoring only...well, constantly over the course of the day. And now we are either hopeful that our team will continue to rock or that it will start rocking. But hope abounds!
Message Bible 1 Peter 1:13 "So roll up your sleeves, put your mind in gear, be totally ready to receive the gift that's coming when Jesus arrives."

Week 1 Day 3
As long as Christian hope is alive, life cannot break us. We will not snap under the weight of our problems and afflictions.
Message Bible: 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 "May Jesus himself and God our Father, who reached out in love and surprised you with gifts of unending help and confidence, put a fresh heart in you, invigorate your work, enliven your speech.

Week 1 Day 4
Easter Sunday! Here's the question: If you were to die today and go before God and He asks, "Why are you here?" You cannot answer in the first person, "I." Nothing you could have done in your life qualifies you for entrance into the Kingdom of God. Only the third person, "He" qualifies you. It is what Jesus did for us on the cross. He died so we might be saved.
Message Bible: Romans 3:22-26 "The God-setting-things-right that we read about has become Jesus-setting-things-right for us. And not only for us, but for everyone who believes in Him. For there is no difference between us and them in this. 23 Since we've compiled this long and sorry record as sinners (both us and them) and proved that we are utterly incapable of living the glorious lives God wills for us, 24 God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity He put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we're in and restored us to where He always wanted us to be. And He did it by means of Jesus Christ. 25 God sacrificed Jesus on the altar of the world to clear that world of sin. Having faith in Him sets us in the clear. God decided on this course of action in full view of the public - to set the world in the clear with Himself through the sacrifice of Jesus, finally taking care of the sins He had so patiently endured. 26 This is not only clear, but it's now - this is current history! God sets things right. He also makes it possible for us to live in his rightness."

Week 1 Day 5
Well, the warmup week is in the books and now it's time to get serious about the week ahead. We are all hoping to improve. Some of us will. Some of us won't.
Message Bible: Psalm 42:5 "Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues? Fix my eyes on God - soon I'll be praising again. He puts a smile on my face. He's my God."

Week 1 Day 6
Where Christian hope exists, no night can be completely dark, no loneliness is without comfort, and no fear overwhelming.
Message Bible: Lamentations 3:24-26 "I'm sticking with God (I say it over and over). He's all I've got left. 25 God proves to be good to the man who passionately waits, to the woman who diligently seeks. 26 It's a good thing to quietly hope, quietly hope for help from God.

Week 1 Day 7
I know the Lord rested on the seventh day, but we play on in this extended opening week. Ever hopeful that our teams can still rally from their deficits or maintain their lead and finish week one with a W. Hopeful are we.
Message Bible: Hebrews 6:17-19 "When God wanted to guarantee His promises, He gave his word, a rock-solid guarantee - 18 God can't break His word. And because His word cannot change, the promise is likewise unchangeable. 19 It's an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God.

Week 1 (still) Day 8
With the weekend looming it might be time to inspire your squad to make their move NOW and not wait till Sunday night for a nail-biting finish. We all hope for more out of our squad. Maybe give them a look at the waiver-wire and tell them they could end up there if they don't start performing!
Message Bible: Romans 15:13 "Oh! May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope!"

Week 1 Day 9
Turning for home! First concluding weekend of the season! Time to encourage your team...maybe go to the whip? 4 matchups (Boston/Toronto, Houston/St. Louis, White Sox/Rockies, Baltimore/Atlanta all too close to call. I hope my team finds their long ball stroke!
Message Bible: 1 Timothy 4:10 " This is why we've thrown ourselves into this venture so totally. We're banking on the living God, Savior of all men and women, especially believers."

Week 1 Day 10
As long as Christian hope is alive, life cannot break us, we will not snap under the weight of our problems and afflictions. We know that God is able to make the best out of the worst.
Message Bible: Hebrews 6:16-19 "When people make promises, they guarantee them by appeal to some authority above them so that if there is any question that they'll make good on the promise, the authority will back them up. 17 When God wanted to guarantee His promises, He gave His word, a rock-solid guarantee - 18 God can't break His word. And because His word cannot change, the promise is likewise unchangeable. 19 It's an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God.

Week 1 Day 11
And down the stretch they come! By this time tomorrow morning we will have cut that 20-team tie in half. Three games to close to call. Red Sox/Blue Jays, Rays/Mets, White Sox Rockies all at 8-6. My hope? That somehow my Red Sox emerge with their first opening week victory is sometime. The big question is...will there be any of that loathsome "sister kissing?"
Message Bible: Proverbs 24:14 " Likewise knowledge, and wisdom for your soul - Get that and your future's secured, your hope is on solid rock."

Week 2 Day 12
Week 1 is in the books! We have a seven-way tie for 1st place with the Cubs, Orioles, Mets, Padres, Giants, Mariners and most surprisingly, my Red Sox, who have to come under the "answered prayer" category. The answer to the question of would there be any of that loathsome "sister kissing was answered in a record setting fashion. Six teams deadlocked. Don't believe there has ever been three ties on opening week. That was odd, but also no team hit .280. It portends a weird season in front of us. All puckered up were the Cards and Astros, the White Sox and Rockies, and the Dodgers and Royals. That left seven clubs on the short end, (you know who you are) looking to bounce back with their first win this week. Squeaker of the week: Orioles over the Braves 7/6...and of course the half dozen sister kissers! Stat winners for week one: Hrs - Mariners (16) Runs - Padres (61) RBI - Blue Jays (61) SB - Blue Jays/Royals (9) AVG - Padres (.279) K's- Athletics (123) ERA - Red Sox (.271) WHIP - Orioles (1.110) W+QS - Orioles (15) SVh - Giants (15) Key matchups for Week 2: A pair of undefeateds battle. Mariners vs Padres and Cubs vs Orioles. Somebody will be looking at .500 come next Monday...unless this sister-kiss is an epidemic. They could pray about it. I did and my prayer was answered. Obviously, prayer is this week's theme. Let your requests be known to God.
Message Bible: Philippians 4:6 " Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns."

Week 2 Day 13
Many Christians experience problems with the discipline of prayer. They reason that if God is omnipotent what's the point of asking something of Him when He already knows what you're asking for. The answer to that is simple: He's the Father. And like all good Fathers, they like to be asked. Even if they already know. Our heavenly Father is just like the ones we know here on earth. Ask Him. It pleases Him when you do.
Message Bible: Matthew 7: 7-8 ""Don't bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. 8 This isn't a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we're in."

Week 2 Day 14
Yet others are too embarrassed to bother God with their petty problems. Surely, He has better things to do. And you know what? He does, but He treats your requests with equal priority to making a new firmament. It's who He is. Just make sure you ask in His name.
Message Bible: John 14: 13-14 "From now on, whatever you request along the lines of who I am and what I am doing, I'll do it. That's how the Father will be seen for who he is in the Son. I mean it. 14 Whatever you request in this way, I'll do."
