THE FRANCHISE Voting 2: 'MiLB Draft Lottery' As we want that all teams compete during the year our league officials suggested having a MiLB Draft Lottery. This means that the draft order will not be based on the results of the league. However, we will create our own pattern that will take the results in consideration. It is simply a pre-caution to avoid tanking. The poll is up for exactly one week and the results will be visible after that. Please make your vote and voice concern if you have any. Please do not offend each other or start arguing. Thank you. Hannes

I would like to hear what the "create our own pattern" sounds like. What are the initial ideas?

E.g. Top 10 teams get their name added once, team 11 gets 2, team 12 gets 3, team 13 gets 4, team 14 gets 5, all the way to team 20 who gets 11 times. Once order is determined, we eliminate the repeats to determine the order.

Once order is determined, we eliminate the repeats to determine the order. Not to mention, I found a site that allowed me to customize it the way we want and give me instant results. I didn't even have to eliminate repeats, once the manager is pulled, they are out. Plus, I would like to see it become a snaking draft so that it evens the later rounds out. Just my 2 cents.

What's the name of the site? Do you have a link to it?

Maybe someone can do a sample based from last year's results and post them on here to see what could be a possibility?

I did a sample. It was on the email thread between you, Hannes, and myself. But tonight I will post it on here. It was close to what you would expect, but with a few surprises. I have the address saved on my computer, and I'm on my phone right now. Not sure when I'll be back. I'm out of town on business.

I had a quick second on lunch to do one. It was set up as follows: Boston 1 ball Washington 1 ball Miami 1 ball Texas 1 ball New York 1 ball Houston 1 ball Cubs 1 ball Seattle 1 ball Pittsburgh 1 ball Arizona 1 ball San Diego 2 balls Atlanta 3 balls Detroit 4 balls San Francisco 5 balls Philadelphia 6 balls CWS 7 balls Oakland 8 balls KC 9 balls LAD 10 balls California 11 balls
Draft order: (number of balls they had) KC (9) SF (5) Cal (11) Oak (8) Det (4) LAD (10) Ari (1) Phi (6) Tex (1) CWS (7) Sea (1) Mia (1) Atl (3) NYY (1) SD (2) Pitt (1) CHC (1) Was (1) Bos (1) Hou (1)

In case anyone wanted to know, this is different from the one that I tried and sent to Hannes and Bryan, but is set up to same teams with same amounts of balls. So, this is random. I personally like it.

I personally like it. I personally like it as well but I could also see some of the lower teams that are still trying to rebuild not be excited about it.

Well, that would prevent teams from tanking all season to get a high pick.

I can tank so I can get more balls.

I like the idea for "Round 1 Only". Why? Generally, all the supposedly "Can't Miss" players are gone by 20-25. If we revert to "Worst to First" starting with Round 2, then I don't think anyone would mind.

I agree that this prevents "tankers", but it also hurt rebuilding teams. Voted no but I'm not against revisiting this in a few years.
