I am wondering what people would think about doing incentives throughout the season. To pay out $15,000 for each category win throughout the regular season. So in a weekly matchup, if you get 10 points that is $150,000 in additional cap in the following year. From the results from 2015 the Cubs would have got an additional $2,790,000 and the Angels would have got an additional $1,620,000. So the money is not a huge amount to make a significant difference on a team but a nice incentive to try to win every week and has many categories as possible.

You would get a incentive to play all your players to get as many categories as possible. Or we could do $10,000 instead of $15,000. Below is what the teams would have got this year.

Speaking from the point of view of the person who would have received the least benefit from this idea last season, and most likely being the same person in 2017, I see this as a good idea to assist teams with a little extra cash. The difference between the most amount of wins and the least would have been 1.17M at 15K per cat or 780K at 10K per cat. So the way I see it is the amount of incentive cash is minimal when compared to some people who simply drop a player at a higher penalty than the possible weekly award.

But it would still give you a little incentive to try to win as many categories as you can. We can't have it too big to make it not a competitive imbalance. But enough to make it were all teams should want to put a competitive team on the field each day. You don't want the power teams getting richer while the rebuilding teams get less. But the 9th place team will miss out on the playoffs but still can get $2M in incentives to maybe get a free agent in the auction with it.

Oh sorry I can look it up tonight for the White Sox and Pirates. No the wins will restart every season.

Texas Rangers Example:

$120,000,000 (2015 Cap)
$3,000,000 (Standard Increase per year)
$2,460,000 (Incentive increase)
=
$125,460,000 (Adjusted Cap for 2016)

Would I then start 2017 with a base of $123,000,000, or $125,460,000, before the new $3,000,000 annual increase and incentives for 2017?

The salary cap in 2017 will start at $126,000 for everyone. Plus whatever the incentive amount your team will earn in 2016. You won't get any incentive money in 2016 you will start earning them in 2016 but won't be paid out until 2017. So your base cap for 2016 will still be $123,000 plus your playoff incentives from last season.

The numbers that I made were a example of what teams would have got. That way people could see what to expect from this.
