You can see who this applies to here >> thefranchisemlb.proboards.com/thread/6609/2024-long-term-year-activations
This is the first year with the long term IR so we maybe need to tweak these rules a bit and maybe re-tweak in offseason
1) If they have already been activated in real life prior to ASG then you will be required to place them on your active MLB/MILB roster during the all star break. You may not activate them prior to the all star break.
2) If they are still on Fantrax IL in real life at the All Star break then they can remain on long term IL.
3) If they are activated at any time between ASG and end of season then you would also be required to place them on your active MLB/MILB rosters at that time.
I feel like #3 should be reworked. Our trade deadline is pretty soon and if a player is activated in September we really don't have the option to trade and adjust our rosters too much. So Degrom for example may or may not even pitch this year if the Rangers aren't in the playoff chase and if they activate him in late September for a 50 pitch spot start then Marlins may run the risk of having to drop a player he is using just to keep Degrom even though he's of no help in that scenario.
So if a player is still on the IL at the all star break I think we should allow both options:
Rule #3 Adjustment A) let the team owners designate them long term IL for remainder of season where they can stay put no matter their IL status in the 2nd half. They will not be allowed to activated until the offseason.
Rule #3 Adjustment B) choose to remove still injured player from long term IL to standard IL and then player just becomes a normal IL guy and is activated when he comes off the IL in real life
Thoughts, since the all star break is pretty much NOW, i don't think we vote on this we just adopt on the fly and rework in the offseason if needed
