SFG sends: Of Mike Trout with salary in full in '24 & '25
SEA sends: OF James Outman P Chase Dollander C Blake Mitchell
Continuing shifting gears here after the departure of Judge, Harper the past few seasons. Replacing Trout with a younger, cheaper Outman while stocking up my future with a couple more top 10 picks from the last draft helps trading the future HOF away. Good luck Nick

I have questions about this.
I am not objecting to the players. I don't care. My issue is the money. That is an absolutely enormous amount of money changing hands, and if we typically value a first-round pick at say $15, then Dollander and Mitchell represent $30. That leaves Trout and $44m for Outman. Is it possible that Outman is more useful than Trout now? Yes. Is it possible that Outman, over the next 2 seasons, is more useful than Trout and $44m? Very unlikely.
I'm the last person to tell anyone what players they can and can't value, so there's no objection there. The financials just concern me, in their broader implications for the league.
It's not a veto, not that I even have that power. Just a question.

I don't understand. Trout is owed 248M over the next 7 years, I'm picking up the 1st two years of the 7. I'm gambling that I win in this deal in years 3 thru 7 and cutting my loses after year 2. Trout is an absolute stud if healthy now, but I don't want to risk it when I have players come up that I want to retain... while still being active in the free agent market throughout. In the end, I just want to be flexible on my terms not bound because of one or two contracts.

Trout is getting 35m thru 2030.
That likely won't age well. To me part of this trade and including cash is adding the incentive of what positive he could provide on the front in with the likelihood of sea may have an expensive unproductive piece on the backend.
I assumed when SFG shopped trout nobody was going to be able to really accommodate 35m annually for that long

I agree with OAK. The money covered for Trout now offsets years 3-7 for Trout and that contract.
Trade processed.
