Welcome to the off-season gentleman, and congrats to the actual Texas Rangers for winning their 1st WS.
Off season is the time of money and Cap Space.
The favorites to win the Off-Season are the Blue Jays, The Athletics, and the Mariners.
The Blue Jays has his fresh start and clean slate. There are a number of stars on the Free Agency between hitters and Pitchers. The Blue Jays can find some players to build around here.
The Athletics has the first two picks, but not only that he has three of the top 5 picks. With players like Dylan Crews, Wyatt Langford, and Paul Skenes... Athletics is looking to grab the top talent of the draft and that is without question.
The Mariners have 12 total picks at this moment, and seeing that the draft isn't until Jan, The Mariners can definitely make moves with it or fill his prospect pool. Jasson Dominguez should have a full-season. He also has an Emerson Hancock, and Marco Luciano who will most likely be the everyday SS in 2024(similar oppurtunity and comps to Volpe IMO) He also has a bunch of other talented prospects. He is currently sitting around -10 million which is going to force him to trade some pieces. I am very interested in seeing what deals the Mariners make because he has all the right pieces to make trades to just about anyone in the league between his Picks, prospects, and tradeable contracted players.
Dylan Crews is my choice for the most talented player in the prospect draft, and with the Athletics having the first two picks it just makes sense he will most likely target Paul Skenes the best overall pitching prospect and #1 overall in the MLB draft... that is unless if Roki Sasuki gets signed to an MLB team... but that might be 2024... Either way the 1st year player draft looks to be about an A- rating IMO and that means there is a bunch of talent here. i
Here are some of the Top Free Agents
Framber Valdez
Justin Steele
Corbin Burnes
Jordan Montgomery
Ryan Pressly
Teoscar Hernadez
Dansby Swanson
Aaron Judge
Yandy Diaz
*Brandon Woodruff* (Apparently he will miss the 2024 season, but all of the news around his surgery is good and it is a rather common injury to retun back from, and the statistics show that their strength returns gradually, hence the long wait time... He has a 1.05 career Whip and 3.10 career ERA over his 130 MLB games... What makes him interesting is he will be a free agent at the end of the 2024 season, and I expect the Brewers to resign him afterwards seeing that they are footing the bill and paying his medical lol)
That is my top 10 in no particular order.
There are tons of other teams that will have good off seasons as well.
The Braves have a bunch of cap space and the 7th overall pick.
The Marlins have around 40 million in cap and the 3rd overall pick
The Red Sox have around 40 million and the 5th overall pick
The Cubs, Yankees, and Orioles are all in rebuilds. The Orioles in 2024 will look very much like the Blue Jays team in 2023.
The Cubs gambled and lost on Ohtani and he has mentioned multiple times he is paying the price. The cubs hold picks 9 and 16 overall and this is a decent start to his rebuild.
The Yankees went for it all and fell short in the World Series. A valiant effort. With much of the high level talent heading to free agency, It is time to enter a rebuild. The NYY do not have any 1st round picks and will have to rely on the talent that is there at pick 22 and pick 33 respectively.
Every other team that was not mentioned I expect to have an average off-season. Every team has a couple of holes, and some teams will fill those holes better than others. I won't really be able to evaluate which teams will win their divisions until after the free agency is complete. Some of the teams I didn't mention might only be one or two guys away from winning their divisions but I won't be able to tell until I see where certain people land.
Either way this is all I have for now. I will add more if I am bored and I see fit. It's early but the oliday season is right around the corner and I hope you all will enjoy it with loved ones. Then in your off time, research youtube videos on the potential prospects lmao!
