As long as a milb stays under limits we can still call them up and down?
For example... Asa lacy has 0 IP, say he gets a spot start with the royals...i can call him up and send him right back to milb since he'd be at like 5 ip or once I call a milb player up I have to permanently keep them up regardless?
I'm assuming I could send him back down until he reaches 50ip but the 2023 rules thread wasn't exactly clear on that

I understood it as once we promote the player, he cannot go back down to the MiLB, even if he’s under limits.
My question with this is concerning trades. If I trade for a player still eligible for MiLB, but he’s already on an MLB roster, can I demote him to MiLB, since I am not the one who promoted him?

No, it will be the same as last year where you can send them up and down as long as they are under 130 AB or 50 IP. The only thing that changed is to your benefit where if you have them in the MiLB while they go over the limit you can keep them there until the offseason before you have to promote them. But once you promote them once they hit their limit, you can’t move them back down.
So say Lacy gets 51 innings in July. You have him in your minors you can keep him there until the offseason. But if you call him up in August, you wouldn’t be able to demote him back down.

Then it will be like the DL where you’ll have til December 1st to promote them.

Example: I had Ron Marrinacchio on my Reserve roster. I traded for Seranthony Dominguez and demoted Marrinachio to MiLB.
Marrinachio had 44 IP... he will probably become the Yankees setup man towards the back end of the season... but I don't think that happens until august.
He will cross that 50 IP threshold pretty early in the season, but I don't really need him just yet. Marinacchio will be allowed to stay in the MiLB until I call him up... which would probably be if an injury occurs (knock on wood that doesn't occur) and if that doesn't happen I'll have until Dec 1st before he will have to be promoted to MLB.
If he crosses that 50IP threshold I will only be allowed to promote him to the MLB where he will stay for the remainder of his career. No more demotions to MiLB for the rest of his career.

That is correct. He can go up and down until he gets the 50 IP. So if you do not want him yet, he has to be in your MiLB when he hits the 50 IP and then once you promote him (or end of the season) you can’t demote him back. If you do not want him on your mlb roster you can keep him in here minors all year but would have to promote him during the offseason.

I understood that from the previous postings but saw the ability to show a good example.
