Playoff Teams and Draft Picks

I have a question that was brought up and I want to see how you guys feel about it. The draft picks are based on regular season rankings. So whoever is the 1 will be the last pick. Don’t matter what they do in the playoffs.

This year, there were a couple National League teams that had a better record than some of the American Lrague Wildcard teams. For example, the Diamondbacks were ranked 12th and the Astros were ranked 14th but the Astros made the playoffs based on the AL wild card standings while the DBacks didn’t make it. But with our draft pick rule, the Astros would have a better draft pick than the Diamondbacks.

The suggestion or idea is to have the non playoff teams get the top picks by ranking and the playoff teams will be at the end. So if you don’t make the playoffs, you will get to pick before any or the playoff teams do.

This probably only affects 1 or 2 teams per year that just fall short of the playoffs based on the league or division.

I probably should have but didn’t realize I wasn’t a playoff team until today. Then happened to notice not only am I not in , but get a worse pick in the draft. I think that the current system leaves a door open for a manager to “ tank “ so to speak. As I explained to Bryan I personally would never do that , but there needs to be an incentive for a team I feel .

I saw the headline and thought (irrationally) that y'all were going to force playoff teams to actually use their draft picks. But as this does not impact my strategy of never ever prospect drafting, carry on.
