2020 Contract Options

At the end of this season, we will have the option to keep the 2020 salary to use for 2021. That way you can keep your player from going to free agency if he’s on his last year. In 2022, we will get back on track and use 2022 salaries for real life contracts. I figure most the players will be carried over. The players that are on our auction salaries (players that you won on auction) you have a choice to use 2020 or basically skip 2020. So if you have a player that is 3 years, 2020 would not count. Unless you want it too.

Please list these players that you want to use 2020 to count towards their contract. Otherwise, the 2020 salary will carry over.

Just the players that you DON’T want to carry over. So list the players that you want to treat like a normal year.

Also, the all important Cash Adjustment/Cap Penalty portion of the Spreadsheet.  Which will be used? It might/might not be complicated if you "do not take" 100% of your players at 2020 salary.  Some teams may already have a wide disparity between which year's net Cash Adjustment/Cap Penalty benefits them most.

I would like the decisions by end of October so I can get the Google Doc ready for 2021.

For the Cash Adjustment/Cap Penalty part we will move to 2021. I think we should use the 2021 positive cash. And then move on to 2021 for the Penalty Cap. If you received a player with cash you should still get to use that cash. But I don’t think it is fair to pay for them twice.

I would like to extend the contracts of the following players with 2021 being year 1:

Jurickson Profar (2B,SS,LF/SD)
Rio Ruiz (3B/BAL)

I would like to extend the contract of Aroldis Chapman (RP/NYY), so that the contract for 2021 would be $12.5m, and 2022 would be the option year for $12.5m.

I would like to extend the contract of Teoscar Hernandez (LF,RF/TOR), so that the contract for 2021 would be $500k, 2022 $500k, and 2023 would be the option year for $500k.

Scott Oberg (RP/COL) is a free agent now. I am dropping him and he can go into the MLB Auction pool.

I want to designate Joc Pederson (OF/LAD) as a "Restricted Free Agent". I know the bidding cannot start until January 2, 2021, but I am going to throw his name in the Restricted Free Agent thread and drop him from my roster in Fantrax. Is it OK to do that?

Yeah, that will be fine.  That wouldn't be a regular free agent so we can start that bidding when the league opens back up in October.
