We decided there is no fair punishment if a team is not under the salary cap. We can not take draft picks away from a team because some teams do not have draft picks cause they traded them. We shouldn't make the penalty for the following year cause what happens if that team quits, the replacement team shouldn't be penalize for something they didn't do. So we decided to just not allow any moves to take place if that will put you over the salary cap. That way there is no problems.
If if you go over cap via trade. Trade will not be processed until that team is under the cap and under roster limits. Trades not processed 48 hours after posting will be voided. That way the other team can move on and not have to wait.
If you go over cap via signing a player from Free Agency. That move will not process until you are under the cap. You have 24 hours to be under the cap and under roster limits. If you are not, the transaction is voided and player will remain a free agent.
If if you go over cap via Bidding. You will have 24 hours after winning the bid to be under cap and roster limits. If you are not, the previous bidder will win that player automatically no exceptions. Same rules will apply for the previous bidder. If there is no other bidder the player will have to be bid on again. For example; You bid on the player at 10am and you win that player at 10pm, you have until 10pm the next day to be under cap.

Sounds fair enough. I believe as a group we have all made an effort avoiding going over the cap limit. So far so good.

Only issue I see is the part about overbidding durring the auction. Your not allowed to place a bid that would put you over the cap and if you do the bid is void. This is lister under the rules for bidding on a player. Agreed, and if it's not noticed until Hannes is posting it, the player should go to whoever the previous highest bidder was unless the winning bid was the only bid.

Agreed. And we shouldn't spend money we do not have. But if some instance a team was making a trade the same time the bidding was and the trade makes them go over or vise versa.

I see one team has gone over their salary cap. How long can we stay over our budget? If we stay over our budget will there be a penalty enforced upon them? I know we have discussed this before but someone is over. I don't know how long they have been but they shouldn't be allowed to do this.
I realize this thread is talking about auction bidding but the title of the thread explains my comment

How long can we stay over our budget? Some teams already have the projected arbitration salary on the MLML. As long as their orange salaries are not green they basically do not count. I only see TEX to have arbitration salaries. If you take those out he is 34M lower than the cap. Once all arbitration salaries are announced the team has 24h to make a move to get within the cap or penalties will apply. If we stay over our budget will there be a penalty enforced upon them?Yes there are.
