Right now we have no divisions and we take the top 8 teams. We did this way cause Yahoo wouldn't let us change the playoff matchups. But now that we are using Fantrax we can go back to divisions. Right now we have a full 20 team league. We could do an American and National league with 2 divisions in each league. You would play your division twice and the other division once. And then you would play one division in the other league one game.
National League West San Diego Padres Colorado Rockies Los Angeles Dodgers San Francisco Giants Arizona Diamondbacks
National League East St Louis Cardinals Chicago Cubs Miami Marlins Atlanta Braves New York Mets
American League West Texas Rangers Kansas City Royals Houston Astros Oakland Athletics Seattle Mariners
American League East Tampa Bay Rays Boston Red Sox New York Yankees Chicago White Sox Baltimore Orioles

I would like to see the standings of this year and compare to the divisions. Also I think it would be smart to come up with a schedule template and how the playoffs would work before voting on this. It would kind of suck for one team to end up in a stacked division just based on the location of their "MLB" team

Good point. I picked the divisions based on standings but I will post the division. Well we would have to figure that out. We would have the 4 division winners. And then if we have 8 teams make the playoffs we would have two wildcard teams from each league. We could expand the teams and do 10-12 teams with the division winners getting bye weeks in the first round while the wild card teams go head to head. We could do 12 teams make the playoffs. 4 division winners get a bye week in the first round. We would have 8 wild card teams. 4 from each league. Make it the top 4 teams that aren’t division winners. Then the 2nd round the top seed in the league will play the lowest seed that advances from the wild card round.
Or we could just do a National and American League. Top 6 from each league make the playoffs with the top 2 teams getting the bye week.
NL West Padres 17-2-1 Rockies 12-7-1 Dodgers 11-8-1 Giants 9-10-1 Diamondbacks 4-13-3
NL East Cardinals 14-4-2 Cubs 13-6-1 Marlins 11-7-2 Braves 10-10-0 Mets 0-19-1
AL West Rangers 14-5-1 Royals 9-10-1 Astros 8-12-0 Athletics 7-13-0 Mariners 4-15-1
AL East Rays 15-5-0 Red Sox 10-7-3 Yankees 11-8-1 White Sox 7-11-2 Orioles 3-17-0
So it is pretty even. 3 above .500 teams in each NL division and 3 in the AL East but 1 in the AL West. Based on last year’s standings the AL West would be the weakest division but 2 teams weren’t active half the year.

I'm not going to make a big deal about it, but I'm the no vote. I'm not opposed to it, but it is going to make it that much tougher for rebuilds. For example:
If the NL West draws the AL East next year, the D-backs would be trying to rebuild while playing the vast majority of their schedule against teams that went .500 or better this year. Sure there will be some regression, but rather than being able to inch up the standings, rebuilds would have to take place practically overnight. You can't gain ground by consistently playing teams that started off better than you. In a more balanced schedule, you can gauge your rebuild progress by trying to pass the team ahead of you, then the one above that, and so on. Makes progress a bit more tangible and patience a bit easier.
On the flip side, it does create a clearer path in for middle tier teams, or teams like mine. So I'm not mad, just cautious.

Yeah that is a good point. We could still do a random schedule and everybody plays everybody once like we did this year and still do divisions.

Could always align the divisions by overall record like ncaa basketball bracket style. So the top 4 teams are all in different divisions.
You'll still probably run into a powerhouse division within a year or two tho. That may be inevitable unless you're always realigning

Leagues and Divisions passed. Will make a new poll to determine what the divisions and standings are.
