I think we should clear things up on the International players. One suggestion is to raise the age to 21. 21 and under the players can be drafted. 22 and up will have to be auctioned. Or we could do everybody will need to be drafted. Thoughts?

We are also going to do a check in to see how many players will return next season. According to the proboards there are 3 teams that haven't signed on since June and one of them was April. And the Angels decided to quit. So that leaves 16 teams as of now. If we go to 16, how do you feel about doing divisions? We could have a NL and AL West and East each with 4 teams. We did away with divisions cause we couldn't have the playoffs work with Yahoo but now since we are using Fantrax we can.

I think we wait to see how many teams we will have next year. And managers that haven't responded since June are not all that interested. Dump 'em. Ok, that's a little harsh coming from the league Chaplin. At the very least have them confess to what caused their lack of interest. If they have a valid reason, fine. If not....see above.

Well to make an even amount of teams we could just decide to move on from them and not give them a choice.

That would work It seems harsh, but this league isn't for part-timers, so I'm for it.

I think before we decide on rules and divisions we first need to determine how many teams we will have and what will happen with the rosters of the teams that are gone if we don't find replacements.

I definitely thing changing the age for international players to 21 is a good idea. I’d be fine with just throwing them all in the draft pool. The international auctions was great in theory and fun but I think it’s complicated and it cause high salaries that are uneccessary.
I would also like to get some dates or whatever clarified for hose players, because it seems there have been several times where players have been auctioned long before they signed.

I think it would be a lot more simple to just put them in the draft. It is too complicated with the contracts and what to do with them when they are in the minors and when and if someone drops them. I wouldn’t mind mirroring your league Josh with this rule.

We are considering having every international player be drafted. There would be no more international free agent auction with the bonus money and such. They would be on a rookie contract for the first 3 years after they reach the threshold of 120 AB or 50 IP. Year 4 would be arbitration of $2M and Year 5 would be $3M. Or we can come up with different numbers as well. After that they are free agents and will have to be auctioned.
Since we use the real life arbitration contracts on 4th-6th year players and not based on rankings those international players will not have the arbitration contracts. Please give me your thoughts or if this doesn't make sense to you guys.

I don’t know if you did this, but maybe we could somehow come up with an average salary for arbitration in years 4 and 5 and that could be our numbers.

Yeah maybe I'll go through and get an average of years 4 and 5 from the MLB players.
