THE FRANCHISE
2014 Offseason / 2015 Season Schedule
Hey guys,
I want to thank you all for closing the draft. We needed exactly 1 month and 22 days for a total of 900 picks. Besides some minor hickups the draft was running very smoothly. Now as we are going into the ‘normal’ off-season there are multiple things that needed to be addressed. I spent hours and sleepless nights on the MLML and I had a blast. I know that all I am doing it for are all of you. I appreciate everyone being part of this project. Much more do I appreciate the suggestions
and ideas that all of you have to improve this league. Please understand that we will never be able to make everybody happy, but all made decisions are intended to make this league last and keep all of you guys on board.
Please vote for your own team when you have read this annoucement as well as went over your teams MLML page. After all 20 Teams have done this trading and roster moves will be unlocked.
1. Auctions: The MLB Free Agents Auction will be pushed back to Febuary 15th, 2015. Simply because not all Free Agents signed new contracts and I want to wait until most of them are signed to make it easier for managers. The International Free Agent Draft will be held March 5th, 2015. If you have 25 players on your roster and you still want to bid on a player , you have 24h after you won the bid to drop a player. A penalty will be paid for the dropped player. Responsible for the
auchtions will be Bryan (CHC) and Matt (STL). So if you have any questions you can always ask one of them or me.
2. Roster Moves: Bryan and me dicussed various scenarios about dropping and adding.
2.1 Arbitration Eligible Players: We decided that it should be up to the team if the keep an arbitration eligible player or if they tender him and let him go into free agency. Your decision on the arbitration eligible players will have to be made between until February 12th, 2015 for us to let me part of the auctions. You can decide this yearly. Please only post your decision once. There is no going back and forth. Once you tender a player he will be a FA.
Post your decision here: List of Players with Arbitration Eligibility
2.2 Dropping: So dropping an arbitration eligible player will cause no penalty. Rookie Contract Renewals and all other contracts will cause you in paying 50% of the remaining contract. If a player resigns or leaves the US you can drop the player without receiving a penalty.
2.3 Adding: Until February 14th you can simply add a player according to their MLB contract. Please indicate this clearly in the Transaction thread. Starting with February 12th you have two options to add a players:
2.3.1 Simply pick up a players real-life contract
2.3.2 Post the player in the auction and possibly getting him cheaper
2.4 Promoting: You can promote players starting now. If you do please clearly indicate which player comes up and which player you demote, drop.
2.5 Demoting: As long as a player is within the limits of AB or IP you can promote/demote him back and forth from your MLB to your MiLB. Do not forget to post the demotion on ProBoards. If you drop a player on yahoo without a post in ProBoards the player becomes a Free Agent after 24h and can be picked up by any team.
3. Yearly Cap Raise: Bryan and me had a long discussion about how much we should raise. We decided on a yearly raise of $3.000.000. As we allowed to decline arbitration eligible players we think that should be sufficient for all managers to stay within the cap.
4. Incentives: We will have incentives that will be paid once and are rewarded for the next year. So if you win the World Series 2015 you get this money for 2016.
- Make the Playoffs: 1.000.000
- Win AL: 2.000.000
- Win NL: 2.000.000
- AL Cy Young: 1.000.000
- NL Cy Young: 1.000.000
- AL MVP: 1.000.000
- NL MVP: 1.000.000
- AL Rookie of the Year: 1.000.000
- NL Rookie of the Year: 1.000.000
- Win World Series: 2.000.000
5. MLML: IMPORTANT: Please as the draft is now fully processed and all trades have been processed I would ask you guys to check your team page in the MLML. Check all salaries and money transaction that you did. Check if all trades you made are processed correctly. Check if you have the right players on your team as well as your MiLB teams. The MLML is the leagues most important tool. If problems raise (e.g. team above caps) the league officials will base their decision on the MLML.
6. Timetable: Here is the timetable for the 2015 season.
- Until February 11th, 2015: Decision on MLB Free Agents
- Until February 12th, 2015: Decision on MLB Arbitration Players
- Starting February 14th, 2015: MLB Free Agents Auction
