What do you guys think of the new rules so far? I think the game will improve with this pitch timer. It keeps the game moving along.
With the batter having to be in the box ready at 8 seconds, I think you will see pitchers take advantage of the whole clock and make the batter wait. Before they would call time and step out but now they only have 1 timeout. If you see a batter get in their early you can make him stand there and wait.
I think it will be another thing we just get used to and after a while we won't even notice it that much.

I don’t like it , I don’t like speeding games up , when am finally able to sit and watch a game I wanna enjoy my break from all the drama I am escaping , especially when I go to a game …. It’s still a 4 and a half hour drive for me to go to a dbacks game , all the gas to get there ,parking ,tickets and souvenirs and snacks , all the costs have gone up…. So now I get less product and possibly more controversial outcomes but pay more for it …. To put it in perspective McDonald’s used to to do 2 Big Macs for $4 , and over the years they slowly increased the price , now u can get one free if u buy one , they are 8 dollars , so 2 for $8. It’s the same ole shitty burger but twice as much , I haven’t eaten McDonald’s in a long time because I refuse to pay higher prices for the same product , I doubt I will be going to any mlb games anytime soon as I don’t wanna put my effort into a league that is figuring out ways to give less and charge more …. Thank God directv gave me the MLB pass for free this year , at least there’s that

Yeah, I hear you. Sadly, I think they have to do this to get younger fans into baseball.
Yeah, can you imagine game 7 of the world series and the winner determined by a delay of game?
It will be interesting to see how the games go this year.

I think it will be used in regular season but shouldn't ve in post season because that's a whole different strategy

I haven't watched hardly any st games yet but on paper I don't think I would mind any changes.
I rarely watch full games anymore outside of playoff time.
Ever since I got mlb.tv I generally just flip from game to game depending on what my players are doing and this year I don't think im gonna renew bc they black out so much stuff in North Carolina (all Orioles, Nats, braves, and reds games are blacked out)... Then apple Fridays are blacked out and I think Facebook watch blacks a few out plus the nationally televised games.
I like the changes of recent years (universal dh, 3 batter rule, etc). Starting with a runner on 2nd in extras is weird but I'm fine with it, it doesn't sour my experience.
I don't think we need to see a Nomar Garciaparra preparation between each pitch anymore

I feel like the pitch clock is still a little quick. Besides that, it does move the game along much more quickly. I will miss the Luis Garcia and Nestor Cortez antics. I enjoyed that old-school Deadball element of the game that has been lost since that was more than a century ago (Look up Albert "Cheif" Bender and windmill wind-ups) Robot umpires will eventually happen, and it will be another evolution I was here to witness.

I was just reading an article that showed a video of a full half-inning pitched in spring training with the new timer taking as long as Pedro Baez took to throw one pitch. Seeing that video, makes you realize how slow this game as become. Now the debate is do you want to see the timer on TV.

I was watching the Dbacks/Cubs ST game the other day, and Bally Sports didn’t show the pitch clock, but they did have a pop up timer that would display anytime it got to 5 seconds or lower. I think that’s what all broadcasts should be doing. Similar to watching the play clock in football

Still don’t like it , if u went to a restaurant and after u were seated the waiter said you have 90 seconds to order , or there would be a penalty and then the portion showed up smaller you were charged more for the portion and a mandatory gratuity was applied , you likely wouldn’t eat there again , I know my wife wouldn’t stand for it for sure … when we go to dinner we like to sit in a booth contemplate the menu and what we are in the mood for often changing our minds several times before we actually order and expect that our food will arrive as expected in portion size and quality and tip accordingly because we are in no hurry to get back to the grind we left behind to enjoy a evening out to dinner. I have no qualms about sitting on my back patio with a ballgame on for 3 or more hours as I cookout and enjoy a cold one or two with a cigar , as a fan I look forward to the experience of the game with my friends , family or just myself at the end of a long day …. Not the hurry up and rush through it feeling , fuck , what’s next we just have the 2 starting pitchers Ro sham Bo for the win …. Like I said earlier if parking prices at the ballpark and ticket prices and souvenirs and food prices were all going down in relation to the product being provided ok maybe , but these people are all making the same profits and providing less product and I don’t have to like it 💩
