Hello all,
We had a couple of issues in the past couple years where teams didn't add the player or prospect to Fantrax when they post on here. Unfortunately, we have to post on here so we can process the MLML cause we have to keep that for salary and contract information. I know some managers use the MLML for players and some managers like to use Fantrax to see who is available. We have had some teams have prospects/players on teams for almost a half of season because they were available on Fantrax but owned by another team. I know most of the time we can catch if a player is already owned. We appreciate when someone responds that the player is already owned. But sometimes it gets missed. I know managers have their own lives and are busy. But it is frustrating to the manager when we tell them that their prospect they thought they owned was owned by someone else and they have to release them. Last year, I believe a team actually used a player for almost a half a season on their active roster before the original owner realized they didn't have the player on their team.
I don't know how or what we could do. In those circumstances, does the new team inherit that player after all that time? Even though I hate telling the team that the player they had is not theirs, I would also hate having to tell the other team that they lost the player.
If anyone has any ideas on what we could do I would appreciate it.

My thought here is that the initial team needs to make the move on fantrax in order to have any claim moving forward. We have this listed as part of the process. I understand things get busy and am open to having a timeframe (ie - 2 weeks or something) before they no longer have a claim. My issue with someone not claiming them on fantrax is that is where you set your lineup. While I get that MILB players will not be slotted into the active roster immediately, it should still be kept up to date in accordance with our rules. My opinion is that if a team does not pick up a player (on fantrax) they added on the boards, the next team that does so and fully follows through should get them (again, within a reasonable timeframe).

I agree with that. And I know that would be too much work on our end to look on Fantrax to see if it is done before processing the move. I would agree that if we come to an issue and it has been more than 2 weeks, the next team will have the rights to the player.

I know last year I had rafael montero for over half the season and then come playoff time whoever owned him determined that he was on his team but he had never added him. Numerous of us had bid for him in free agency because he was eligible on fantrax. I gave up the player and didn't make a fuss about it, not like it was aroldis chapman or anything but he was the closer at the time and I prob couldn't make up for that late in the season.
I also had alejandro kirk for a long time because whoever had him didn't add him on fantrax. I was operating assuming I had depth at catcher with ruiz/kirk...I actually discovered that myself and brought it forward...
Is what it is, and I assume it'll just happen from time to time.
I thought last offseason we mutually agreed to "added on fantrax" in the comments with trades/free agency but not sure how much that was adhered to as I'm pretty much just doing my own moves. Everyone for the most part knows/agrees/remembers to describe why they did whatever trade move in the trade forum so confirming they updated fantrax could be a requirement to process claim/trade/etc

Reverse the order. I did this, and I know it's my fault, but a couple of years ago I fought with someone in the transactions thread over a guy. I added him on here, he added him on Fantrax, and it was decided that this site was the final word. That was a mistake. Make Fantrax the final say. Whoever owns a guy on Fantrax owns the guy. Obviously that doesnt cover FA bids, but setting Fantrax rosters as the standard, since that is where we actually play, seems to make sense.
