As we approach the middle of the week, matchups are starting to look much closer in some cases.
CWS has the potential to upset the NYY if the guys have another hot day. Aaron Judge gets a rest day on a day where his production will be missed on a limited amount of games throughout the league.
Jake Fraley returns Friday adding a SB threat to the NYY team. Jasson Dominguez's Call-up might come a little too late for SEA for the main bracket. Might be right on time for him to win the consolation. (But a platoon of valuable prospects entering next season is a gigantic plus.) Sonny Gray and Brandon Woodruff had good games and really highlighted Spencer Strider @ LAD Tonight.
KC and OAK are pretty close in the Pitching department, Spencer Strider's game tonight can make or break the Kansas City Royals Season.
SF and NYM hitting matchup is much closer than I thought it Would be. SF has the potential to upset the NYM.
Chicago Cubs had an amazing season on the shoulders of Ohtani. Even the Unicorn seems to be human. Great season out of the commish. I am pretty sure the Padres are moving forward.
KC is currently winning 8-6 vs. Oakland| NYM is winning 9.5 - 4.5 vs. SF NYY is winning 11 - 3 vs. CWS SD is winning 12.5 - 1.5 vs. Cubs
in the consolation bracket
Col is beating the Braves 8-6 LAD is beating the Marlins 8-6 HOU is beating the Mariners 7.5- 6.5 STL is beating the Diamondbacks 10.5 - 3.5
This weekend might be a nail-biter for all of these games.

I started looking over this league's stats and rosters. I intend on breaking down the divisions, Highlighting frontrunners. I'm going to try to pick the entire playoff picture as well.
As of this moment though I have San Diego Padres vs. New York Yankees in the World Series. (8/31 as of this moment it is sizing up to be a Oak/NYM as the favorites... But those Giants can really make an upset happen... The CWS can get hot, and upset the NYY. I honestly think, all of the teams in that main bracket still have a chance of winning the week. The Padres NYM matchup is going to be something to watch. IF! the Giants don't make the upset. I hope to stay competitive vs OAK and I think that I can keep it close. I really wonder if my predictions will come to fruition.

There are a lot of teams that are good but some stand out above the rest... this is looking at those teams with no divisions in mind... just great rosters.
I don't have the time to deep dive all of them but here is a short list.
Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, Kansas City Royals, New York Mets, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox
1 San Diego Padres (Main Bracket) 2 New York Yankees (Main Bracket) 3 New York Mets (Main Bracket) 4 Oakland Athletics (Main Bracket) 5 Chicago Cubs (Main Bracket) 6 Kansas City Royals (Main Bracket) 7 San Francisco Giants (Main Bracket) 8 Chicago White Sox (Main Bracket)
(100% the Main Bracket!!!!!)
{Mar 25, 2023, at 10:42 pm} New York Mets actually lead the power rankings in statistics produced across all categories. This does not include the schedule or matchmaking like the Power Ranking I displayed above... These are the Power Rankings based on most production not factoring scheduled matchups.
1 New York Mets 100.0% 2 San Diego Padres 97.5% 3 New York Yankees 94.3% 4 Chicago Cubs 85.9% 5 Kansas City Royals 81.2%
[TODAY] Power Rankings remaining games
RANK TEAM SCORE 1 Oakland Athletics 100.0% 2 New York Mets 98.1% 3 San Diego Padres 92.2%
The Oakland team is favored according to software, but we know it can be anyone's game that week.
My take on all of this is at this point in the season Hitting is pretty solid in all of the main bracket teams. Pitching has been a coin flip each week. Even Ace's have had bad games this season...
Thu 6/8 Spencer Strider gets hammered for 8 ER against the Mets Sat 8/19 Gerrit Cole 6 ER Mon 6/19 Corbin Burnes hammered for 7 ER
They all show consistent production... but there is a chance they have that off-game when it matters most. This applies to the batters of these lineups as well.
THIS IS THE PLAYOFFS!
It really is coming down to the wire and it feels more competitive now that everyone's season can abruptly end.
Good luck to the Main Bracket and Consolation Bracket teams. You all deserve to be here playing.
The guys who missed the playoffs, you are all in rebuild mode and able to make moves in the upcoming off-season... Good Luck to you next year and the upcoming rookie draft.

KC and OAK are pretty close in the Pitching department, Spencer Strider's game tonight can make or break the Kansas City Royals Season.
KC is currently winning 9-5 against Oakland.
Luis Severino @ Houston, Aaron Nola @ MIL, Jordan Montgomery vs MIN are on the bump for the Oakland Athletics,Oakland needs to rely on Rafeal Devers @ Kansas City (Alec Marsh) to swing the hitting categories for him.
I think KC is content with his starter's number so far and plans to sit them the remainder and only go bullpen. 2.43 ERA 0.861 WHIP entering the weekend.
Oakland currently has 3.29 ERA, 1.093 Whip 8 W+QS 6 SV.
The SV/HLD is the category still able to be swung.
KC ERA and WHIP are to watched as a blown save or hold could swing the favor back to OAK.
The Giants had a valiant effort heading into Thursday, But heading into the weekend the NYM dominate production caught up and overcomes SF.
NYM currently leads 11.5- to 2.5
NYY leads 12.5 - 1.5 Padres lead 12-2
At this moment the favored matchups for Monday and the AL/NL pennants are
Padres vs Mets and NYY vs KC
there are still 2 days of games to be played to sway the numbers, but this is definitely the PLAYOFFS!

Well well well, gentleman. Here we are. Pennant Week. The AL and NL championships are on the line!
In the AL we have the Kansas City Royals vs the New York Yankees.
The AL West Division is one of the more challenging as all of the teams can compete. 4-5 managers finished above .500 so it was no easy task getting here in that division. Upsetting the Oakland team, and now facing off against the Underdog NYY. The NYY rode an easy division and battled it out throughout the season to win that division. The highlight of the season came at the deadline when they added Aaron Judge and Elias Diaz to the roster. The NYY team in the playoffs has steadily produced a minimum of 125+ TB with a .280+ average. The NYY weak points will be ERA and WHIP and mediocre K/9. This is do to the loss of Joe Musgrove.
The KC team also lost Felix Bautista, one of the best closers in the league. KC still managed to put up a week with a SV/HLD 13 which is quite impressive.
This is going to be a close matchup. The advantage in the hitting Categories goes to the NYY. The advantage of Pitching goes to KC. This is going to be a very tough match-up as each team's strengths is the other team's weakness.
The NYY were the underdogs coming into the playoffs and this week, I actually think they have the advantage and momentum to win it. (I am also biased)
I think it will be a split-win decision amongst the HIT/PIT cats, but ultimately winning the majority of the hitting, and winning the K category. K/9 and the W/QS categories will be close and can be the deciding factor in the victory of either team.
It is win or go home for the NYY as KC only needs a tie in order to advance. A tie is very possible in this matchup as each team's strengths is the other's weakness. Prediction NYY heads to the World Series in an 8-6 victory.
Peaking over to the NL Pennant
This is going to be one of the closest matchups of the year I think. I don't think I really have to explain. The production and consistency of both these teams are exactly the reason they are playing for the NL title. It is win or go home for the Padres though as the NY Mets have the League's best record.
Yordan Alvarez is DTD for the Padres and if there is any more loss of production, it could mark the end of the Padres season.
Mitch Keller also faces a hot Milwaukee team, Chris Sale vs a hot Baltimore team... The only match up I saw that looked good for pitching for Padres is Kershaw vs Miami.
NYM's matchups just favor them more this week, and with the momentum and production they have been putting up will most likely carry them into the World Series.
With that being said, Both of these teams are loaded with superstars and playmakers. It is both team's game to win or to lose. It really depends on who is hot this week.
This is what it comes down to for all 4 teams still in the running. All of them have been producing and putting up numbers and getting hot in the playoffs. We are at the point where all of the games played before this week... doesn't matter. Except in the event with a tie. But all of the teams are here playing to win and the AL/NL pennants are on the line, as well as tickets to the World Series.
Good luck to all of the teams playing this week.
(Prediction: NYY @ NYM in a subway series World Series) (I am Biased)

Playoff MVP... at least for our league. Kind of wanted to highlight some of the top performers from across the playoffs from those still in contention. Following this week we enter the World series and the World series MVP will be more obvious once that week is over. So I wanted to highlight some of the players and their performances during the playoff weeks.
Some of these guys will become free agents in the off-season (Judge and Teoscar Hernandez).
My votes are for Trea Turner and Ronald Acuna Jr. This week will definitely make it much clearer.
Aug28-Sep 3rd
Trea Turner AB26 H11 R9 HR6 RBI14 SBN2 AVG.423 OPS1.695 TB32
Yordan Alverez AB21 H10 R3 HR2 RBI5 AVG.476 OPS1.464 TB18
Ronald Acuna AB32 H13 R8 HR4 RBI11 SBN4 AVG.406 OPS1.301 TB27
Jordan Walker -Hot week after a terrible week in the wildcard. AB15 H9 R4 HR3 RBI6 AVG.600 OPS1.958 TB20
Corey Seager AB26 H8 R5 HR2 RBI2 AVG.308 OPS.934 TB15
Aug 21 Jordan Walker AB11 H2 R1 AVG.182 OPS.580 TB3
Corey Seager AB25 H7 R3 HR1 RBI5 SBN1 AVG.280 OPS.773 TB11
(These players were on bye but posted these numbers)
Trea Turner AB26 H8 R6 HR1 RBI5 SBN1 AVG.308 OPS.821 TB13
Ronald Acuna Jr. AB26 H8 R3 SBN2 AVG.308 OPS.756 TB11
Yordan Alvarez AB21 H6 R2 RBI6 AVG.286 OPS.693 TB7

Let's be clear. I'm much more likely to win 8-6 than I am to lose 8-6. I ain't saying I'm likely to win. I'm just saying when I win, it's close and when I lose, I lose 12-2 or worse. So if you're going to predict a win, be bold. You're more likely to be right that way.

Moving tomorrow and busy today. But wanted to jump on and write a little something.
KC leads over NYY 8-6 NYM leads over SD 9-5
SD pitchers are finally coming up on their starts, and we will finally see some of the Padres Pitching. Trea Turner comes back to the lineup Friday after getting a couple of days of paternity leave. His production has been missed in the NYY lineup.
Both matchups are really close. A good Thurs,Fri,Sat,Sunday could really sway the outcomes, meaning I think this is really going down to the wire.
Yes, KC and NYM are the favorites to be our league's World Series contenders. But the Padres and NYY are definitely not out.
Good luck to the remaining teams. I will have limited access to my laptop starting tomorrow.
(I don't have time to focus on the consolation bracket)

The New York Yankees Advance to the World Series by beating the Kansas City Royals 8-6 The Dominant New York Mets blaze into the World Series by beating the Sand Diego Padres 11-3 Sep 4, 2023 at 10:29am (Prediction NYY heads to the World Series in an 8-6 victory.) (Prediction: NYY @ NYM in a subway series World Series) (I am Biased) What a week it has been for the NYY team. Trea Turner goes on paternity leave, Aaron Judge gets a day off or two extra, really sweating the hitting categories... Then somehow manage to almost sweep the Pitching Categories. only being saved by a high AVG and OPS. But the underdogs managed to fight there way to the World Series. The Dominant NYM team has just been bulldozing his oposition week after week on the shoulders of Ronald Acuna Jr. Marcus Semian and the slew of other superstars. I think this might be the end of the New York Yankees run as the New York Mets seem unstoppable. World Series Prediction New York Mets beat the New York Yankees 9-5 I wasn't availble to get to the boards the later half of the week because I moved cross country to Colorado. I'll try to give updates throughout the World Series, if we ever get to see the matchups.

Well guys it's been a hectic week for me in real life. Moved west to Colorado and the internet has been scarce.
Anyhow, here we are entering the weekend and our World Series has been closer than I thought it would be.
NYM is winning 7.5 over the NYY 6.5
Both managers only have 3 more starters to play. The NYM team has all 3 of his starters going today. (Tanner Bibee (Who NYY traded to the NYM team earlier this season), Alex Cobb, Mason Miller) The NYY have Corbin Burnes and Pablo Lopez going tonight with Gavin Williams going tomorrow.
The NYY will have the advantage of seeing if he needs to start Gavin Williams tomorrow.
Deep dive into the categories.
The New York Yankees Hitting 160 AB 45 H 25R 5 HR 29 RBI 2 SBN .281 AVG .776 OPS 67 TB Pitching 34 IP 31 K 8.21 K/9 5.29 ERA 1.618 WHIP 2 W+QS 1 SV 5 SVH
Hitting 176 AB 44 H 23R 7 HR 22 RBI 2 SBN .250 AVG .751 OPS 75 TB Pitching 41.2 IP 42 K 9.07 K/9 5.18 ERA 1.392 WHIP 3 W+QS 0 SV 0 SVH
We are entering the weekend and the last 2 days of play for the season. It really is anyone's game to win or lose at this point.
We really have to pay attention to each team's starting pitchers this weekend.
Great starts by Corbin Burnes and Pablo Lopez could sway the pitching categories enough for the NYY to take the lead. Even a couple of Home Runs by the NYY team or a SBN could sway the lead to the NYY side.
The Mets have been dominant all season long. For the Underdog Yankee team to be this close entering the weekend seems miraculous to me.
As far as Playoff MVP, it's down to 2 players for me.
Trea Turner and Ronald Acuna Jr.
It will be determined by the winner of this week's World Series.
Best of luck NYM, as a gentleman's gesture. It is going down to the wire!
